need to be in-store ensuring that your product is receiving maximum exposure and being promoted effectively. No competitive company wants their people hanging around at home waiting for a delivery of crucial POS material.
This is precisely the situation that Wrigley came to us with in 2001. Although the company’s sales force all had some sort of secure storage facility, ranging from a garage to the use of a secure, guarded site – it all needed pulling together and rationalising to bring real and measureable benefits to Wrigley.
We immediately got to work. Working with our carrier company we developed a process by which we could receive requests from individual sales people and deliver them to their own storage facilities. We had to be able to gain access, deliver the stock, collect any items due to be returned and then secure the storage area again.
We now hold the details of over 130 sales people on our system along with the information needed to gain access to their facilities. Where appropriate, our carrier company holds keys and every order we send out contains full access instructions to ensure that all stock is delivered securely and on time.
Whether collecting or delivering product, every stock movement is recorded and transmitted to Wrigley to enable them to maintain a full stock inventory on SAP. The result – Wrigley’s sales team can now place an order for a POS item they’ll need within a couple of days, confident that it will be delivered securely to their storage area for collection on route to their appointment. These improvements have seen Wrigley save money and time, their sales teams function more effectively and of course, the POS is in store, on time, gaining maximum exposure for its client.
