A. If your order profile is a low volume of orders, consider sending orders out less frequently. The benefit of this is achieved through bulk picking where less distance is travelled in picking all orders and costs are reduced.

Q. My company needs to store some items, but I have been asked by my current storage supplier to ‘ensure the items are on standard pallets’. What is a standard Pallet?

Pallets come in many different sizes and materials, however I would assume that if your current storage supplier is within the UK, then a ‘Standard Pallet’ will normally measure 1200mm x 1000mm and will be wooden. There are many grades (strengths) of pallets available, ‘A’ being most durable – ‘E’ being least durable, and depending on the weight of the items you wish to store this will also need to be considered.
